Mozart essay REAL

Mozart symphony no. 40 is structured in Sonata form, exposition, development and then recapitulation, (otherwise known as ABA). Also there is no introduction. In this piece most of the phrases are made up of scales. The phrases are balanced making it sound like questions and answers. Throughout the whole piece it is 4/4 and is molto allegro. The double bass and the viola have simple rhythm. There is an occasional use of dotted rhythms and syncopation, which creates momentum and interest. This piece is in G minor however it goes into F sharp minor in the second subject. Mozart uses diatonic functional harmonies as well. Pedal notes are heard in the alto part before the second subject begins. During the exposition it starts as piano (quiet), the second subjects begin quiet but gradually crescendos. The recapitulation then has similar dynamics to the exposition. In all of the section the dynamics are quite sudden. The piece is mostly homophonic. Between bar 43 and 55 there is a dialogue between the woodwind and strings. This piece is played by a chamber orchestra made up of strings woodwinds and horns. Both horns play in two different keys.

Chopin raindrop prelude
