Summary
The Blind Side was a 2009 American semi-biographical drama film written and directed by John Lee Hancock, and based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. It featured Michael Oher, an offensive linesman who played for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. Homeless and traumatized, Michael “Big Mike” Oher was absorbed in Wingate Christian School through the help of his friend’s father who talked to Burt Cotton, the coach of the said school, who was fascinated and impressed by Mike’s size and athleticism. This was thankfully resolved when he had a talk with Leigh Anne who clarified that she did not impose any forcing influence to make Michael choose her school. Rather, she was even willing to support Michael in whatever decision he made even though it was coupled with his desire to play with Tennessee, Ole Miss’ rival. This cleared up everything and the investigator, much to her surprise, was contented with Michael’s answer – “I chose Ole Miss since my family had gone there”. Towards the end, he became an All American offensive left tackle and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens the first round in the 2009 NFL Draft. He died, unfortunately, on his 21st birthday by reason of a gang fight that ensued in Hurt Village.
