Social Media And Teenagers Just one bottom press by the media can change teenagers. There are a lot of websites that aim to make people get addicted to social media, and focus on youth. It is hard to find someone confident that is having a conversation. Social media has caused weakness of social networking and conversation dying. The main effect of social media is that it has made teenagers very busy. It is hard to set with a teenager for a while. There are a lot of parents complaining about their sons. Their children spend a lot of time on front of their computers more than with them. Indeed, some parents meet their children twice a week since they never get off of their computers. According to Pew Research Center “A new Pew Internet Project report reveals that 93% of teens ages 12‐17 go online, as do 93% of young adults ages 18‐29”. The second effect is that some people cannot hold a conversation. According to Pew Research Center “83 percent of American adults own mobile phones and that 73 percent of them send and receive text messages. Of the percentage polled that text, nearly a third of them prefer to send and receive text messages instead of talking on the phone”. Thus, the person who ignores having a conversation with people around him will become cyber hermit. As a final point, social media has positive effects, but it has more disadvantages than advantages.
