Nomophobia, the fear of being out of mobile phone contact. The phrase was coined by a U.K. study commissioned by SecurEnvoy as an abbreviation for no-mobile-phone phobia. According to an article, 77% of the 18-24 age group revealed nomophobia. If a person doesn’t have his or her cell phone, and feels uncomfortable trying to respond to real life situations without it, experts warn this is addiction.

In Hong Kong, it is not hard to find teenagers using their phones. Traveling on vehicles, having lunch in restaurants, you can see youths using their phones wherever and whenever their hands are free. They cannot refrain from using mobile phones, many of them even use their mobile in class
It could reduce the harmful effects brought by mobile phone and thus they could live a healthier life.

Besides, the lecturer may also teach them some time management skills. Teens’ addiction-like behavior may affect their social life and work. They may need to spend longer time on finishing their assignments and works, as they are always disturbed by frequent calls and text messages, online chats and web browsing. In fact, time management is closely related to self-discipline. When you do not have control over your own self, how can you control time? Someone said self-discipline is like a muscle. The more you train it, the stronger you become. The basic method to build self-discipline is to tackle challenges that you can successfully accomplish but which are near your limit. Teachers can help the students to schedule their tasks for everyday. Once they have mastered a week at one level, take it up a notch the next week. If students continue with this progressive training, they can surely change their addiction-like behavior. Nevertheless, I think an examination should not be included in this course. This will not only increase students’ burdens, but also lower their interests. The teachers may use some interesting ways to test their abilities, such as discussion and movie making.
