This essay is to inform the American people how disappointed we, the military members of the two alert sites are. We are disappointed due to the fact that our president or as the military calls him the commander and chief. Our .r. Obama has decided to cut our military again to cover up the over spending of our government. Mr. Obama has decided that it would be best for the government’s budget that we cut out two alert sites out of the 18 we have located across the United States. These to alert sites have been up and running doing homeland defenses since just after Sept 11. 2001. They have provided homeland security 24 hours a day 365 days a year. However what could this military budget cut be costing the 36 veterans and their families? And that 36 families is just from one of the alert sites. Well let me explain a few and I mean only a very few things that could result from this decision that clearly was not thought out very well.
Yes this may save the government money but really at what cost to the American people? It has been proved in this article (Sinyai, C(2012,Aug27)Americap10) that many veterans are having a very hard time finding jobs after separating from the military or as I like to say serving their country. Once they become unemployed they join an already struggling civilian economy that is already really not that able to provide or generate enough jobs for the civilian work force. Now when a military member exits the military without retiring which is what is happening to a lot of these families they are forced to enroll in the reserves due to the war going on still with this being in place a lot of civilian employer are not wanting to or for a better view scared to hire veterans with fears of them being called back up to serve. Many of our veterans will be in line at the unemployment line or forced to take under paying jobs just try to make ends meet. With not being able to find work it is setting the veterans up for many other problems. These veterans are facing losing their homes, families, and their all-around well-being just to save the government a little bit of money. Ask yourself is this fair? Would you as a civilian want your boss to come to you tomorrow and say well I spent too much last month party and now cannot pay you so I am letting you go ,you would not be very amused would you.
The military families that have been subject to the involuntary unemployment now are being thrown into facing marriage problems also. Many veterans end up in divorce court due to problems with money after becoming unemployed from the military. Let me explain this when a person is used to providing everything for their family for instance health insurance, housing, food, clothing, basically everything and they become unable to do this they become stressed. These families have to learn all over again how to live because they have lived on a military budget some of these families for 13 years. When this happens a lot of the time the spouses end up getting a divorce due to fighting over the money problems.
