I Believe…. Most people think that being a military child is hard, but to me it isn’t and it is the life I have grown up living and I wouldn’t change that for anything. There are times when I feel like nothing can ever go right, but every time I make it through and in the end I am proud to be a military child. The hardest thing is having my dad be deployed all the time, but knowing that he is serving our country so everyone in The United States can live in a free country puts a smile on my face. I believe that being a military child has made me the person that I am today. Having to pack up and move every 2-3 years is my least favorite part of having my dad serve in the military. Moving all the time is not easy because just as you are getting settled down in one place before you know it, it’s time to pack up and move on to the next. Moving all the time does get tiring, but if my dad wasn’t in the military I would never have had the chance to see the country like I have when we are in the process of moving. In 19 years I have moved 9 times living in 7 different states all over the country. My least favorite place that I have lived would have to be Fort Polk, Louisiana. Living in Louisiana there was absolutely nothing to do in the town which we lived the only store was a Super Walmart. The memory that sticks out in my mind when I think of living in Louisiana was living there during both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. During the hurricanes we had to live in our laundry room for 3 days each with 2 dogs and 2 cats because our laundry room was the innermost room in the house so it was the safest place for us to hide so that we could stay safe and away from all windows and doors. Whenever you live some place bad there is always a good place that will makes up for the bad place. Hawaii has to be my favorite place that I have ever lived even though I lived there when I was a lot younger there are many things that I remember and that makes me want to go back to visit so I can relive those memories. Watching dolphins jump into the Hawaiian sunset is something that I will never forget and I hope to see again. Having to move every 2-3 years has made me the person that I am today because moving isn’t easy, but I know if I stay strong and push through things I can make it through anything that is ever thrown my way in life. The people that I have met in the past 19 years have all had a major influence in making me the person that I am today. In my school days I attended 6 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools so if only you could imagine I have met a lot of people and have made a lot of friends. Having to meet new people every single time we move isn’t always easy, but I have learned that being who you are and not acting like who you aren’t makes it so much easier to make new friends. People will love you for who you are and not for whom you aren’t. I have made so many great friends in all of the places that I have lived and I wouldn’t change my best friends for anything. With the technology these days it makes it very easy to be able to keep in touch with all of my friends. Having friends that live all over the country with technology like Skype or FaceTime it makes it easier to see them, and I also use Skype to see my dad while he is deployed overseas. Having my best friend live hours away makes it hard to be able to see her, but almost every night we FaceTime so I get to see her and it’s like we are right with each other when we are talking. The technology makes it so much easier to keep in touch with my friends from all over whether it is through Skype, Facebook, texting, or phone calls. If it wasn’t for all the modern technology I wouldn’t be able to talk to a majority of my friends. All of my great friends that I have met over the years have made me the person that I am today. If it wasn’t for the friends that I have met over the past 19 years whether I still talk to them
