Course Description:
This course examines the information requirements of an organization, emphasizing the difference in the kinds of information needed at the operational, administrative, strategic, and organizational levels. Information technology (IT) is an enabler of business. This course will focus on the impact IT is having on organizations, business functions, and management practices and introduces students to the benefits and competitive advantages of technology in personal, workgroup, and workplace environments.

Prerequisites:
MGMT 130, CS 105 or CS 101

Course Objectives
Activities and Outcomes
To explore the latest concepts and uses of information technology and the strategic importance of its successful utilization.
Students will read and discuss current articles relating to information technology.

Students will participate in online forums to discuss mini-cases and videos relating to the content of text.

To become familiar with the terminology employed in information technology.
Students will take exams on IT related terminology and concepts as they apply to the business environment.

To successfully employ information technology to solve business related problems in data handling and communication.
Students will report on an emerging technology.
