Key Dates and General History MGM Resorts International was incorporated in Delaware on January 29, 1986 as MGM Grand, Incorporated, a subsidiary of Kirk

In June 2010, shareholders voted to change MGM's name from MGM Mirage to MGM Resorts International. In 2011, MGM acquired an additional one percent of the overall capital stock in MGM China and therefore becoming the indirect owner of fifty-one percent of MGM China. Environmental Analysis When performing an environmental analysis, the first factor that comes into play is the current economic condition. With the present economic condition in the United States, travel is more of a luxury than ever. There has been a decline in the travel industry simply because people are out of jobs or just not making enough to afford to travel. In other words, there is a lack of disposable income. In order for MGM to attract tourists to their properties, those tourists first have to find an affordable way to travel. With the rising oil prices, which affect the prices of airfare and other forms of travel, traveling becomes much more expensive.
