Geography impacted Mesopotamia in many ways. The most helpful aspect was that
Mesopotamia was in between two rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates river. Because of it’s location between these two rivers, Mesopotamia has some upsides. Mesopotamia has many different regions. The geography of each area and the natural resources that were there affected the ways that people lived[Geography, 2014]. Northern Mesopotamia is made up of hills and plains which was highly beneficial. Geography influenced the development of the characteristics in some regions of Mesopotamia.
Mesopotamia has many positive qualities because of where it is located. It’s located between two rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Due to the advantage of living between two water sources, the soil was rich and fertile. Because of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers,
Sumerians had the ability to trade and travel through both of them. Another benefit was the fact that there was an unlimited amount of freshwater to bathe in, drink, wash food with etc… A system was also created to supply water to land and crops to help growth. A system otherwise known as irrigation, which was invented by Sumerians. Irrigation was very helpful because the levees that were used held back the floods from fields and cut canals to channel river water to the fields of the farmers[AM­TS, 2014].
The geography in Northern Mesopotamia was great for farming and settlement. Northern
Mesopotamia is made up of hills and plains. It is a great area for farming because the land was considerably fertile[Geography, 2014]. The land was fertile due to seasonal rains, and the rivers and streams flowing from the mountains. It was also helpful for early settlers to move in. This is because they, the early settlers, were able to gather metals and stones from nearby mountains.

Geography influenced the development of the characteristics in some regions of
