I am writing about a story written about Pope Francis and his comment about homosexuals. I feel that the report was not very clear and it really did not go into much detail about where the pope really stood on the subject. I do feel that some facts were reported on and others were ignored. The report states that the pope was asked about if the catholic faith would allow a homosexual priest to practice the faith as long as he remained abstinent. The pope commented that he was not one to judge if they were seeking out the lord then he had no problem with homosexuals. Later in the article a spokesperson for the Vatican said that the pope was not speaking about priest being homosexual he was speaking of gays in general. I feel that the spokesperson was just preventing a problem for the pope by covering up the popes’ remark. I also feel that there were assumptions made by the spokesperson by stating that the popes’ remark was not just about the catholic priests. I feel that the real point of the comment was down played because the pope did not say that he was talking about gays in general. This could cause a conflict for the catholic church and their beliefs so it was covered up quickly. I would not think any differently if I had heard this story on the radio because it is a basic story of cover up. I feel that it is the spokespersons job to do damage control, but at the same time it make them look like they are ashamed of the statement that the pope made and they have to clean
