Measles Vaccination Campaign
By: Haley Willett Measles is a very dangerous infection that is caused by a virus when people cough, sneeze, share food and drinks, other contact between people. It can also travel airborne, which can result in more of a spread of the virus. In some instances, you can still receive it even when the infected person does not cough or sneeze. Measles is most prominent in young children around the age of five and younger but still can be seen in teenagers and adults.
Cause and Transmission
According to Mayo Clinic, “measles is a virus that replicates in the nose and throat of an infected child or adult.” (). It can be transmitted by coughing and sneezing of the infected person and then the uninfected person breathes in the air surrounding the virus which can stay up there for up to 2 hours. Measles is only spread in humans and no other animal species.
Prevention
The best way to prevent measles are as follows:
Get the Measles Vaccination! They are free at most doctor’s offices. It will not only help you, but the environment you live in.
If you have measles, the best way to prevent the highly contagious disease is avoid going to places that are confined with people and limit conversations with people.
Avoid talking to people who are more susceptible of receiving the virus (For Example: Pregnant women and younger children).
Treatment
Controlling the virus, monitoring temperature to prevent fever and other pain
Get plenty of sleep, eat healthy and
