high school?

Part A- Designing and Collecting Data
Task 1:
A) The population currently at Narangba Valley State High School is 1232. There are 440 year 10’s, 437 year 11’s and 355 year 12’s.
B) The sampling method used for collecting my data was a 10 question survey, which I gave to 7 year 10 and 11 students and 6 random year 12 students. These students were randomly selected.
C)

I chose to randomly survey 7 year 10’s and 7 year 11’s because from the above equations the results are closet to 7 students for both year 10 and 11 therefore making the survey results more accurate. I chose to randomly survey 6 year 12’s because also from the above equation 6 students from year 12 should be surveyed from the whole population of year 12. I also chose to survey 20 people all together because 20 is less than 1% of the population therefore getting only a small selection of answers.

10) Does the extra-curricular activities impact your grades? A) no B) partially C) yes

Task 3:
A) Categorical: Q1, Q3, Q7
B) Ordinal: Q6, Q10, Q8b
C) Discrete: Q2, Q5, Q8a, Q9
D) Continuous: Q4
Categorical: These questions fit into this category because they all have no particular order because the data values are just names.
Ordinal: These questions fit into this category because the data has no order, but the difference between steps are not meaningful.
Discrete: These questions fit into this category because the data has only certain values
Continuous: These questions fit into this category because the data can have any value, although here may be a max and/or min.
