The life of fairness Maybe someone was born in a superior family. They are treated as prince or princess. Maybe someone is decided to bear starvation and hardship since they were born. However, people should not be treated by just looking their appearance or skin color. Fairness is a significant factor which affects the social orders and interests of citizens. Martin Luther King is a heroic leadership model of fairness who strives for justice and fairness between black and white people in the 20th century.
Based on Compiler Mitchell Brown (1996), Martin Luther King was born in 1929 and he was the first son of his family. Then he graduated from Morehouse College with a B.A. degree in Sociology. Later on, he was awarded many of the degrees from many of the colleges and universities in the United States and several foreign countries. Because of the civil rights movement, he received hundreds of awards. After several successful events, he is shot by James Earl Ray in 1968. (Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Biographical Sketch). Martin Luther King strives for justice and fairness through the event of Montgomery Bus Boycott. Since Rosa Parks is arrested due to she does not offer her seat to a white person, every black man gets angry. Then Martin Luther King declares the speech and leads people to protest, “Has since been called the first event in the civil rights era, the assembled group voted overwhelmingly to ‘refrain from riding buses…’” (Josh Gottheimer 210). This shows that Martin Luther King has ability to lead people and he is trustworthy in local black people’s mind. What he does then is selfless devotion to the disadvantaged people, so it is obviously that people is convinced by his speech and willing to follow him. Until the last, they succeed on the bus segregation protest. The heroic leadership model of fairness is also shown in Selma-Montgomery march. Voting rights is limited for black man. For fairness, Martin Luther King leads a march to protest limited voting rights. Since the marcher lacks of people, the thing that demonstrates the leadership of King is the “the march to Montgomery finally began with over 3,000 participants.” (We shall overcome-The History Place). This apparently shows that people trust him and he is already an influential person who makes the change for equality. Finally, congress passes the Voting Right Act “which guaranteed the right to vote to all African Americans.” (Selma to Montgomery march). Without Martin Luther King, people cannot “enter political life at the local, state and national level.” (Selma to Montgomery march). The struggle for equality between black and white people goes through the event of Birmingham Campaign as well. It is about allowance for black people go to many public places, such as store, restaurant and school. Martin Luther King is arrested into jail as the leader of the protest group. During the days in jail, he writes Letter from Birmingham Jail. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere…Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” (Julie Buckner Armstrong 181). It clearly demonstrates that even if King is in the jail, he still considers that
