My trip:
I took a trip to the beach recently to help clean up the trash. I used gloves to make sure I didn't get anything on my fingers or get any contamination of some sort. Before I walked along the shore, I made sure I had enough trash bags to fill up. Overall, my trip was successful. I categorized the trash so that I could make a chart and study it extensively and figure out exactly the trash got to the shore. I will also explain and give tips on how to stop or limit pollution. Name of trash

How I believe it got there
Someone was
People needed drinking out of it to cool off
Carries for food
off of plastic bottles Potential damage? Toxic to the marine life itself
Toxic because it doesn’t break down
could suffocate or be injested
tcan cause intestinal injury Type of pollution Pet waste
Yard waste
Cigarette butts
Fertilizers
This is usually caused by pet owner’s not taking after their pets while they walk them.
People are irresponsible and throw their yard clippings near or in the water. They are flicked off of a persons hand onto sand or the ocean water. Gas fertilizers are common because they are sprayed and it will entirely penetrate the water. Point of origin
How we can stop or limit pollution:
We need to be more responsible in
The impacts of marine pollution are vast and prominent in our planets oceans. Our Earth is a delicate ecosystem, which has been put into extreme stress due to human activities. This includes everything from the more radical- oil spills, waste and industrial dumping- to the minor scale human activities such as garbage and household disposal that become waste runoff into the sea. However, Williams (1996) notes that even though there are both radical and minor cases of pollution, we should view them…

Ocean Pollution Ocean pollution is a serious concern for the environment. Human activity is destroying the oceans. Every type of pollution affects ocean health and the unique plants and animals that live there. Ocean pollution also affects us humans because we eat fish and other marine life. Toxic substances that wash ashore can destroy beaches. The main types of pollution are air pollution, acid rain, pesticides, oil spills, dumping, sewage, and global warming. The health of the ocean is something…
Ocean Pollution “Over 80% of marine pollution comes from land-based activities” (WWF, May 4, 2006, p.1). The rest comes from ocean-based activities. Different types of pollution enter the ocean each year. The major pollutants are oil, toxic materials, and debris. These materials not only pollute the ocean, but they also affect the marine life. Before the 1970s there were no laws to prevent and stop people from dumping pollutants into the ocean. Since the early 1970s many laws and regulations…
Introduction The article “Sea pollution posing severe threat to marine life” by Business Recorder records that fish species are killing in the coastal areas due to the increasing industrial chemical toxins from Lyari Nadi in Karachi port's navigational channel. Besides, the marine life and the fishermen of the inhabited islands are facing a severe threat of that pollution. According to the article, Mr. Bhatti who is the President of Bona Fide Fishermen and Boat Owners Welfare Association urged the…
about the size of Africa created by Pacific currents now carrying refuse from North America, Asia and the islands, concentrating it into a swirl of flotsam estimated to contain 3.5 million tons of junk, 80 percent of which is plastic” (Rooney). The pollution in the oceans is caused by garbage/plastic bottles finding their way into waterways and the currents moving it to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Many people have been throwing garbage in the waterways and as Mr. Conley says in his paper, “The rest…
issue. Other chemicals and waste that travels from the farms or runoff from the land into the oceans may also change the balance of the water. The outcome of unregulated chemicals and nutrients flowing from farms and other industries into the oceans, marine life can no longer live in the water they once thrived…

ecosystems and robust habitats. The actual state of our oceans is a far cry from this natural norm. A myriad of human pressures are being exerted both directly and indirectly on ocean ecosystems the world over. Consequently ecosystems are collapsing as marine species are driven towards extinction and ocean habitats are destroyed. Degraded and stripped of their diversity, ocean ecosystems are losing their inherent resilience. We need to defend our oceans because without them, life on Earth cannot exist…
Chapter 16 Marine and Coastal Systems: Resources, Impacts, and Conservation I. Central Case: Collapse of the Cod Fisheries A. No fish had more impact on human civilization than the Atlantic cod. B. This abundant groundfish (fish that feed on the bottom of the ocean) was a dietary staple in cultures on both sides of the Atlantic. C. Cod provided the economic engine for many communities along coastal New England and Canada. D. After decades of technologically advanced fishing techniques harvested…
