Margaret Henderson’s Diary
Oh boy, now I truly am confused. I just don’t know what’s gotten into me! Oh his deep blue eyes make the butterflies in my belly to summersaults until the colour of my cheeks turn bright pink! When I gaze into his eyes I am compelled to look further into the adventurous world beyond our little town - I never knew existed. I never could have dreamed of the things he claims to have seen. A place outside of Pleasantville? Our entire lives, the thought of another place hadn’t even crossed our minds. However I don’t know what to think about this… Should I be scared? Should I want to know more about the outside world? What if I don’t like it… would Pleasantville be able to return to normal if things didn’t work out?

I don’t know what the boys are thinkin’ but all my friends are spending a lot more time down at lover’s lane and the library. The things they’re experiencing sound wonderful; however I don’t think my parents would be happy with me exploring the unknown. I’ve never felt this way before and no one seems to know what’s going on. Bud and Mary-Sue know plenty about the outside world, oh isn’t it just swell. I had no idea what was to come next but the surprises never seemed to end.
