More than anything else, management jobs are required the fact in normal daily life, theory can be seen like a fake of the truth and in certain experiments involving management it has been proven so. The following report is a discussion of whether (Bartol et al. 2006) is existent in the workforce and how the studies of Mintzberg and others are applied in the workplace.
The company we choose for this report discussion is K Mart, operates 182 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand and employs thousands of people across a range of positions. K Mart Australia is a subsidiary of wesfarmers (formerly the Coles Group) operates Kmart Australia Ltd under license from united state. This special store is the K Mart Footscray Department store.
Mr Michael was the groups’ particular selection because his role within the corporation is so chaotic, given that he is the department’s manager. With a fast paced work schedule our group was looking for an answer to how he keeps up with a pace such as him whilst attempting to effectively manage the department. PLANNING
According to (Bradford & Duncan 2000), planning can be defined as a management function, concerned with defining goals for future organisational performance and deciding on tasks and resources to be used in order to attain those goals. The overall planning process has three parts, mission, goal, and plan and goal attainment. Mission is the organisation or persons purpose or fundamental reason for existence, goal , future target or end result an organisation wishes to achieve, plan, means devised for attempting to reach a goal. A good plan, especially in business, leads to a good execution and positive results.
A plan can play a key role in helping to avoid mistakes or recognise hidden opportunities. Preparing a satisfactory plan of the organisation is essential (Bradford & Duncan 2000). The planning process enables management to understand more clearly what they want to achieve, and how and when they can do it. As no two organisations are the same neither are time planning, which is why purpose of planning is important, to prepare a plan keeping in view the necessities of the enterprise. A plan is important aspect of business. It serves following three functions. * Helps management to clarify, focus and research their business or project’s development and prospects. * Provides a considered and logical framework within which a business can develop and pursue business strategies over a certain period of time (Martinsons 2003). * A plan should be a realistic view of the expectations. Depending upon the activities, a plan can be long range, intermediate range and of short range.
In the interview conducted the answers given in regarding to the way business was conducted and planned was several reports, these reports include; mandatory reports conducted each morning, financial reports for previous work days and attendance reports.
