Learning contracts and action plans
Learning contract Aim: There is a need for me to improve my listening skills for not just to understand someone whatever someone is talking about but to listen what they feel. I want to improve my listening skills by the end of this course in order to have good listening skills.
My overall aim – For me, In order to become achieve effective skills in listening and to become a genius in field of listening I have to show the double of the improvement as i got now. I need to communicate more than 3 hours a day to put these kills into test.
Rationale:
It is really very important to adapt new listening skills because of few reasons .It is helpful to establish new connections with different people and improve our connections and helps to collect the exact information all the times. It is not a thing that we just have to focus by giving it a particular time at home or school but we can utilise these skills at home and school not casually but all the times when the teacher is giving the lecture or at work place when your manager or supervisor explain your job. If I follow the above suggestions it will likewise help me to watch and translate more verbal messages and I can understand all the stuff whatever someone wants to explain. It can likewise help to improve the probability of expert achievement and individual Satisfaction. It helps to feel confident whenever i have to talk with others It will also help me to achieve the success with the good and high level of understanding.
Pre test measures/Post test measures :
You should keep the proper record of what you did on daily basis so that you are able to know where you are standing and it will tell you which part you are strong at and which part you are weak in and what you need to do to improve you more and also you will be able to see which part you have to focus on and you will be able to analyse where you will be in particular period of time.
Strategies
1. Listen to the speaker carefully
If you want to to listen properly than you should sit at that place where you can see the person who is talking. Suppose that you are going to attend the lecture that the only place to sit on is the front desk
2. Try to understand non-verbal messages
When the speaker is explaining try to understand his/her facial expression and body language. Through the body language they may try to give you the idea what they are going to explain.
3. Give comments
If you gives the comments to the speaker than the speaker comes to know that you are listening to the speaker so always try to give the comments and give the comments.
4. Do not disturb
Do not disturb the speaker in between the conversation it may confuse the speaker and he/she may forget which point of the lecture he/she was at so always try to wait for break in the conversation.
5. Reflect Interest With Your Body Language
Lean your body forward
Tap your fingers when you are thinking something.
Speak in quiet voice to tell the speaker that you are scared about something somewhere.
Rub your nose to tell that you have doubt.
6. Don't try to go ahead of the lecturer.
Always try to move ahead only with the speaker’s explanations. Don’t try to imagine that what will be the next step until and unless speaker do not move ahead towards next step but make sure that the speaker is explaining at present is clear to you.
7. Explain the main topics
When the lecture ends and it’s time to discuss or to clarify your doubts always try to explain and discuss the main topics of the lecture so that you understand them properly and everyone get chance to clarify if they have any kind of doubts in these important points.
8. Don’t explain anything to anyone without permission.
