Introduction
Gandhi was one of the most remarkable charismatic leaders our world has seen. He was able to gain India’s Independence but in a non-violent manner. Not only did he help India but as well helped South Africa’s Indian population. Gandhi had a well-rounded childhood attending school and having a mother and father whom cared for him. He wed at the young age of 13 and soon after went to London to become a lawyer. Once he passed the bar he went back to India to work for a firm but it wasn’t easy to find a steady job. He was offered a job at a firm in South Africa and Gandhi didn’t hesitate and took the first plane out. Little did he know he would spend over 20 years there until his return to India as a grown man. At the age of 79 he was assassinated while walking to a prayer but his legacy is still lives on. Childhood Mahatma Gandhi was born on October. 2, 1869 in a house in Porbandar, which is located in Western India. His mother, Putlibai and his father, Karamchand spoiled Gandhi the most since he was the youngest of their six children. Putlibai was a deeply religious and courageous lady whom Gandhi had always admired and cared for. One day he remembered seeing his mother grab a scorpion with her bare hands off her feet and dropped it out of the window. He always wondered if he would be as brave and fearless as her. His father, Karamchand was married four times and was lastly married at age 40. He would wed every time his wife would pass away. Gandhi at the age of three had a nurse taking care of him named, Rambha. He became real fond of her over the years. Gandhi as a child was quiet, shy and easily frightened but was extremely mischievous. He would always run away from his sister and Rambha and would disappear for the whole day. Once Gandhi slip away from Rambha and followed girls whom were dressed for a carnival. Eventually at the end of the day one of the girls had to bring Gandhi back home because he ate some flowers and it began to burn his throat. When Gandhi entered school he had the most miserable years of his life. He always thought he was a mediocre student and never above average. But records explain that he was not a mediocre student but a wildly erratic one. After primary school he attended the Kathiawar High School and later took an entry examination for the University of Bombay. Which he barely passed the examination but did well enough to be accepted. At age 13 Gandhi’s life would change as a young teenager in transition to a husband.
Marriage
At the age of 13 Gandhi wed his wife Kasturbhai in an arranged weeding which was and still is common in India. Kasturbhai was as well young like Gandhi’s age and was the daughter of a merchant. She lived a few doors down from Gandhi’s house in a large beautiful home. The lust and her beauty attracted Gandhi although she was illiterate and had no schooling. Their weeding was held simultaneously with his family members so the weeding would be cheaper. The weeding had it all from servants, horses and musicians. Gandhi and Kasturbias marriage lasted till her death in prison, married for 62 years. During their marriage they spent many months apart due to family reasons and that actually help them save their long lasting marriage. Years later Gandhi speaks about the horror of arranged marriages at a young age. He believes India
