September 10th, 2012 When it comes to a close/physical relationship I find it to be true that it is harder for people control of what they want to reveal. You can have as much privacy as you want in an online relationship. When people meet each other face-to-face people seem to be more emotional than an online relationship, this is because you are actually in front of the person and it’s more personal than typing to a partner online. When you type online people don’t know the emotions you are trying to express in an online conversation, people don’t know if you are sad, angry, happy, etc. However in a physical/close relationship people can detect what emotions you are giving off by the expressions of your face, your tone of voice, body movement etc. In a physical relationship it seems to be harder to control your privacy and what you want to send as a message to the other person. It’s different in an online relationship because you have complete control of what you want to reveal to the other person; you have complete control of your privacy. However with the divorce rates in the U.S.A after marriage it is hard to tell who will stay together and who will not. I think it depends on the culture that both partners were raised in, and the principals they share. With the new technology, and the new generation of people developing online relationships I believe that there are new rules on how to act with an online relationship. A couple of them being don’t lie;
