Jehovah’s Witness

Charles Taze Russell near the end of the 19th century founded Jehovah’s Witness. Charles devoted his life to faith after being introduced to the theory that Christ had returned to earth invisibly in 1874. To help him preach his theory on Christ, Charles established bible studies and a religious publishing company. As time went on, membership rose. Russell created a magazine called Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence in 1879, catering to followers of his preaching’s. Within two years of the magazine launch, the Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society was formed and Charles was declared president.

After many book publishing’s, moving to new and current head quarters in Brooklyn, New York, and the death of Charles in 1916 the organization was then put in the hands of Joseph F Rutherford. Many changes came from the new leadership including the actual name of the religion. It was switched to Jehovah’s Witness in 1931 to greater emphasize the public witness of missionary work. Nathan Knorr took charge of the Watch Tower Society. He was an organized man that worked to make the movement a more efficient missionary machine. There was big growth in the movement with Knorr in charge.

Members of Jehovah’s Witness have their beliefs based only on text straight from the bible. They believe the bible’s 66 books to be historically accurate and the Word of God. Witnesses keep a degree of separation from non-believers while rejecting the sinful values of
