Respect within the Military basically means treat others as you would want to be treated. It is one of the basic Army Values. It is by far one of the most important values that we have. It is the one that keeps everyone acting polite and curiosities towards everyone. This is one of the NCO’s basic responsibilities to make sure that everyone has respect. This is something that everyone has to make sure that they are teaching everyone at an early time once they arrive into the unit. The verbal part of this is to only say the correct things to the person. For example when a Senior NCO talks to a lower enlisted. For instance, a MSG asks a question to a group of PFC’s and SPC’s, one person should address the MSG with the correct greeting. They should start by saying his or her rank and then the response that is needed.
Respect is also known to be a two way street, but with this you will have to start off by showing the proper level of respect to the person that you are working with of working for.
