What is love? This question is one of the world’s most frequently asked questions and it can have a very simple answer or a complex answer, yet it is always unanswered. Although many people may have different answers on what love is, there is a universal meaning to it. Even in the dictionary there are many answers to what love is. According to www.Dictionary.com, love has five different definitions or so called meanings. Love is “(1) a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. (2) A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. (3) Sexual passion or desire. (4) A person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart. (5) (Used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection, or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love?” “Love.” Dictionary.com Unabridged. Random House, Inc. 03 Dec. 2012. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/love?s=t&ld=1124. If the dictionary is supposed to have definitions of each word and has multiple definitions of love, how are we supposed to know what the actual definition of love is? I believe that each indivual has their own meaning of love and it can be difficult to describe it in words or by saying it. I also believe love is a feeling. A feeling which can’t really be described. But I also feel that it is an action used. This action so called “love” is abused worldwide every day. How can such a sweet and passionate feeling/action be abused? There are many ways to abuse love. For example, men tend to manipulate women who claim to have “love” for the man whom she has had sex with. Women see sex as an action of love, while men see love as an action of pleasure. Nowadays, Men use love to have sex with women and have the pleasure rather than using it as a true action of the feelings they feel deep in their hearts. This is one of the most common mistakes love is abused by. Another way love is abused is that the word love is thrown around and used too much. People just say “I love you” or “I’m in love with you” right away like it has no impact in meaning. Years ago, the value of love and the way it was used was more cherished than today. Over the years many famous singers and artists have made songs about love. Some have made songs to make you cry, make you smile and even help you express how you feel about your partner. The song what is love by Haddaway is a song just about everyone in the whole world knows about. This song brings in mixed emotions meaning it can be a happy type of song or it can make some go into deep thoughts. The beat of this song is an upbeat melody and the lyrics have a strong powerful meaning which is conveyed by the beats. The lyrics also bring in the deep thoughts if you are currently looking for love, found your love or just wanting to know what love is. The music the new generation listens to does not respect love. It gives the message that love is more about sex and pleasure opposing to how you feel about one another. The song love faces by Trey Songz expresses that love is about being sexually attracted. This proves that love is mistaken with sex and this idea is being modernized in today’s society. When I was little, my grandpa always used to tell me “use love wisely.” As a kid I never took that advice as anything meaningful. In elementary school, I never thought I’d find my love. I always thought girls had the cooties and I didn’t like them. I
