Love As We See It Where do the worst and the best feelings in life come from? Most of us have experienced them while some of us more than others. They originate from love. Love can be defined in many ways and has many different forms. It can be expressed in words, pictures, and even actions. The love we will discussing is the love someone has with a significant other, most commonly between a man and a woman. This kind of love makes us do stupid things and helps us learn difficult lessons, usually the hard way. It brings out feelings that are usually hard to explain to those who haven’t experienced those feelings. The most common feelings are usually betrayal or loss of trust. These poems about love take you on a journey of thought and emotion that can sometimes feel like a roller coaster. Each word or phrase can take you back to a moment of either pure joy and happiness or extreme depression. Most of all, they usually have you think about one person and one person only: the one you love or have loved the most at one point in your life. There are probably millions of poems about love, if not billions. These three poems help us define and describe the feelings brought about with love, according to the author's experience. When the feeling of love is mutual between the two individuals, it makes you treasure your significant other more than anything else in the world. They're usually the center of your life and the number one priority in your life. In the poem "To My Dear and Loving Husband" by Anne Bradstreet, the artist compares her love with wealth. "I prize thy love more then whole Mines of gold, Or all the riches that the East doth hold" ; She is describing a feeling that cannot be replaced by anything at all, not even all the gold in the world. The author compares love to thirst as one "that rivers cannot quench." This kind of love can be interpreted as a feeling that can't be fulfilled or replaced by anything else but the one you love. She also supports this by describing the love as one that she can no way repay. This is how much she treasures her love. It is irreplaceable and incomparable with any other feeling or actions.
One of the most amazing things about love is our inability to control it. It comes with no warnings or signs and it won't leave just because we don't want it anymore. My one and only experience with love was completely out of my hands. I fell in love with a girl who was just a really good friend to me. Luckily, this uncontrollable feeling was mutual and helped us create a strong relationship between each other. In the poem "I Know You", Katie supports the claim that love is uncontrollable. When she first met her boyfriend, she said "I felt like I had known you forever, telling you my secrets and what I didn't want ever. you listened to me I bet you thought I'd never end, who would have thought we would become more than just friends." Even though this is not a direct support of love being uncontrollable, her experience shows that she didn't have control over her feeling and could not predict that her relationship with the man would become intimate. Her tone and use of words suggests that she is appreciative of the time and effort the man has shown her. When I first met my girlfriend, I had no idea that we would end up dating or even become friends. In fact, that was the last thing that I thought would happen between us. Slowly over time, we became really good friends. At one point, just like Katie in the poem, she started to share much of her secrets with me. It wasn't long after that, we became really close and more intimate. Before we knew it, we both fell in love with each other. None of us said anything to each other at first because we didn't want to ruin our friendship. But since love is uncontrollable, we couldn't resist the urge to tell each other how we felt. We had no idea that it was the beginning of one of the most important phases in our lives. I can relate to
Real Love I love you. Those three little words mean so many different things to different people. But what is real love? Can anyone really define it? The definition of love is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. That definition does not go in depth enough for the effects of love, for how love makes you feel or how it makes a person act. Real love is selfless, everlasting and blind. Real love does not gloat, it’s never proud and it will never end. Real love is blinding…
Courtly Love In today’s society relationship’s presents with some rules, such as you cannot cheat on your beloved, you cannot be jealous, because it can be perceived as a sign of insecurity and not as a sign of love, and if you are marrying someone, you can only love this person and no other. In the middle ages, the rules of love were not the same. Before, the art of love presented itself with its own rules. In the middle ages, Andreas Capellanus wrote a book named “The Art of Courtly Love” that provided…
is Love?” Let yourself be drawn of the strange pull of what you love. It will not lead you astray. Love is a supernatural force of nature. However we may want to, we cannot command, demand, or take away love any more than we can command the moon, the stars, and the wind to come and go according to our whims. Love exists bigger than you are. You can invite love, but you cannot dictate how, where, or when love expresses itself. You can choose to surrender to love, or not, but in the end love stands…

Jehaenah de Ramos Block E English 10 Ms. Grgic The Faults of Love Love is blind, yet no matter how pure, or how immense, love can never be immortal. Both literary pieces La Belle Dame Sans Merci alongside Frankie and Johnny are two tragic poems where a lover is led to an ultimate demise. Thus, even though love is seen as never immortal, both texts allow the reader to experience different conditions of strong love through variations of descriptive language and setting. Both …
“When in love, the sight of the beloved has a completeness which no words and no embrace can match: a completeness which only the act of making love can temporarily accommodate” (Berger 141). The essay Ways of Seeing portrays the idea that every person views the world differently with different ideas about what they see. A major thing that every person views differently is what, how, and who they fall in love with. The events in everyone's life effects the lens life is viewed through. This lens chooses…
easily related to what we are seeing on our class, which helps us to understand better the concepts that are shown to us in the book, it has numerous examples of interpersonal communication. The movie begins with Tom and Summer, two coworkers with totally different opinions of what “love” meant to each other; to Tom love is about fate, about finding your soul mate, “the right one”, and to Summer love is a fantasy, a fiction created by the media. When we start the movie we think that is going to be…
