PROTECTING INDIVIDUALS
As a Manager there will be situations that can be very difficult to deal with. Such as time when we held certain information regarding staff issues and whether it is worth mentioning it or just keeping it to ourselves. The decision can be difficult to make as it may be just a person home life or personality causing the problem. Even so these things can cause conflict in the workplace and it is up to us as managers to resolve them. There are many ways we can do this, but it is all dependent on the situation and staff involved. That’s why we have to use our best judgment to hopefully resolve them in a manner that is best for all involved. Any conflict in the workplace can bring the morale of the whole team down and if left, can fester and escalate causing much unrest. It is important to deal with these issues fast.
One of the ways in dealing with conflict is to have a meeting with all the parties involved and get them to all discuss their feeling on the issues and prompt them both to resolve them between themselves with us there as mediator, that way if there is any misunderstanding it can be dealt with whilst both parties are present, and if need be offer solutions from an outside view. Managers should never comment on the situation until we have heard both sides of the event.
If conflict arises within a team, a possible solution may be to get the whole team together and let them know how they are operating as a team. It is best to praise the team regarding the achievements they've made and then open it up for discussion about any conflicts that may have
