Hey there Kids! How’s life in [your school]? Are you enjoying your music lessons?

I wonder if it is raining outside? I can tell you, there will be wet break if there is! Are all the windows misted up? Look out! I might be on my way!

Let me introduce myself. I am Ronnie the Raindrop and I’m going to tell you what it’s like to be me for a day! Can you imagine? Always a bad hair day! But, I do get to travel on fantastic adventures.

Are you sitting comfortably? Are you listening carefully?

Good, then I’ll begin…
My life begins in a cloud as a cloud droplet. A cloud contains not only water, but also tiny particles such as dust, smoke and salt. I wrap myself around one of these tiny particles and depending on its size, I become a droplet ranging anywhere from 0.0001 to 0.005 centimeters in diameter. At this point I'm too light to fall out of the cloud. However, every time I bump into another, smaller droplet, I get larger. Soon I am so heavy that the cloud can no longer hold me and gravity pulls me toward the Earth. I start to fall, bumping into smaller droplets and becoming even larger. When my size becomes 0.5 millimeters or larger in diameter I am called a raindrop.

Would you believe that I am now about one million times larger than I was when I was a cloud droplet!
SPLAT! I’ve just crashed straight into a window pane. Ouch! That really hurt! Well I suppose it’s going to hurt if you’ve been falling from a cloud high up in the sky!

Now, I’m going to have a race with my fellow raindrop friends and see who reaches the bottom of the window pane first!

On your marks, get set……GO!
Well, I’m worn out! Falling through the sky, crashing on a window pane! PHEW! It’s time for my holiday!

After trickling down the window and down the outside walls of the house, I catch up with my friends in a h-u-g-e puddle!

This is the life! I’m swimming around, relaxing and having a good old gossip! There’s no need for me to rush! The only thing is….I’d better watch out because there’s a boy over there who looks like he’s going to splash in the puddle…..he’s getting closer……
AArrgh!!
As my puddle drains away I flow with all my other raindrop friends through the drains until I join a river.

Wow, you would never believe how many other raindrops there are in a river! My Mum and Dad are there, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles; second-cousins-twice-removed…..there are BILLIONS of us all flowing along
