It is easy to say you love someone, but it is almost an indescribable feeling. However, writer Nikki Giovanni does a great job of putting you in the time and space of love. She allows she to see the physical aspects of love as wells and feel the depth of the emotion. This poem gives away the simplicity of our actions for the ones we love. Love is an abstract word and seems nearly impossibles to define. This poem uses imagery to show how it feels to be in love. For instance, the author talks about the simple superficial things nail cuticles and gray hair. I know for me it is true that when in a relationship things like maintenance is a necessity. I make sure to keep my nails manicured and neat at all times just for my significant other. While other things like my gray hair isn’t important. I can be the natural aging me and know that he won't mind. Love builds a confidence and a self awareness. Giovanni makes the reader aware of this by mentioning the tiny changes. Those changes can be made for a romantic love or a family member.. When love takes over you want to take better care of yourself because you know it is no longer just about you. The love a parent has for their child is shown in similar ways. A parent finds themselves eating better and living a more mature safe life for their child. Giovanni, mentions a new appreciation for love songs once having been in love herself. This is relate-able for me in many ways. I have a deep music, that spans far beyond the instruments and goes straight to lyrical content. You can listen to or watch an artist perform a song and state how much conviction they must have felt. However, once in love yourself, you now apply those lyrics to your life and your feelings. I have always listened to many genres of music and I can remember listening to an older R&B song and wondering how could someone sing about not having love in their heart anymore. It wasn't until I was older that I understood the growing pains of heartache and failed relationships that I could relate to the

Everything we have worked on in class this year relates to The Scarlett Letter. The novel goes into great depth with annotations…
