In Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream the characters show that love makes you make very poor decisions. In the play Hermia is in love with Lysander but Hermia’s father doesn’t like that he wants his daughter to marry Demetrius. Demetrius is also in love with Hermia but she’s doesn’t feel the same way. A girl named Helena who is Hermia’s Best friend is in love with Demetrius but he can’t stand the sight of her. As the two lovers Lysander and Hermia run away so they could be together Demetrius follows so he can win Hermia’s heart and pathic Helena follows Demetrius to try and his heart. In the woods Oberon and Puck apply the magical flower on the lovers trying to solve their problems but it makes it worst. Lysander and Demetrius now both love Helena and Hermia is feeling unloved. In the play the character that demonstrates the strongest personality traits are none of them, when there love life is croupade they turn against someone that once meant very much to them. Not one person has a strong personality in this play, when in a situation they can’t control themselves they take it out and blame one another. “You Juggler, you cankerblossom, you thief of love!” (3,2,296)
As Hermia is talking to Helena she called her a cankerblossom and a thief of love basically saying she destroyed her and Lysander’s relationship and how she stole Lysander from her and because she can’t get Lysander back she blames Helena.
“Injurious Hermia, Most ungrateful maid, have you conspired, have you with these contrived, to bait me with your foul derision?”(3,2,200)

When Helena can figure out why Lysander and Demetrius are acting like they are in love with her, she blames Hermia for being selfish and for being part of their strange acts of love to her. This proves that one had a strong personality because if they did they would have accepted the situation that happened instead of blaming each other. There personality makes the boys in the play act as dog’s when the find someone new they forget about the ones they used to love with all their hearts.
“Lysander, keep thy Hermia. I will none. If e’er I loved her, all that love is gone, My heart to her but as guest-wise sojourned, and now to Helena is it home returned.”(3,2,172)
Demetrius used to love Hermia and want to marry her but now he wants Helena and forget all about his once love Hermia .
“Hang off, thou cat, thou burr! Vile thing, let loose, of I will shake thee from me like a serpent.”(3,2,270)
