Listening from both the speaker’s and the audience perspective is very important in order for the speaker to give an authentic speech. There are several key elements in having successful communication. You must have a message to deliver, someone to deliver that message, and group of people to receive the message and last but defiantly not least both you and you listeners must have an understanding of your message.
Even when we rehearse our speeches and get the body language down to a science we don’t always come off as being natural so our listeners might feel as if something is wrong. You should always try to use body language that makes you feel comfortable. Try to avoid showing non-verbal signs of nervousness such as crossing your arms or messing with your hands in front of you so that your audience won’t sense your uneasiness and will be less open to your message. When an audience is aggressively listening to the speaker, and a speaker is aggressively listening to the audience they can turn a speech into an event.
