From an early age he was said to have been a talented boy and at the age of 14 he was apprenticed to Verrocchio’s’ workshop, one of the most renowned in Florence. There he was taught chemistry, sculpting, architecture, leather work, moulding and casting and many other skills. 6 years later he finished his apprenticeship and became a member of the Guild of St. Luke.
