Explain the legal status and principles of the relevant early years framework/s, and how national and local guidance materials are used in settings.

The EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) was giving legal status in September 2008 under orders and requirements of the Children’s Act 206. It has been mandatory for all OFSTED registered schools and early years providers to comply to the EYFS requirements to ensure meaningful and flexible approach to children’s learning and development, that will enable young children to achieve the EMC (Every Child Matters) outcomes, these are:
Enjoy and Achieve
Staying safe
Being healthy
Make a positive contribution
Achieving economic well-being
It sets out standards that all early years providers should making every effort to ensuring that children are kept safe and healthy, that they learn and develop well and ensure that children are ready to start school with a wide range of knowledge. This can help them to build a good for future learning.
The EYFS should ensure that all early years’ providers provide
Good quality and consistency; this can ensure that all children make good progress and not child gets left behind, so all children are start on an equal level.
Secure foundation through development and learning opportunities which are planned around the children’s needs requirements and interest; this ensures each child is treated individually and each child is reviewed and assessed regularly.
Partnership working between parents and settings/practitioners to provide the best care for the children and ensuring parents are included in their child’s development progress.
Equality and opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices; this practice ensures that everyone is treated fairly and equally and given support.
The EYFS sets out legal requirements regarding the learning a development for example;
Early learning goals
Assessments arrangements
League requirements to welfare
Safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
Suitable people, suitable premises, environment and equipment
There are also six areas which are cover by early year’s goals and education. They are all important which shape a rounded approach to child development, these are

Expressive Art and Design
The EYFS profile must be completed as a record of their achievements. It is also a ways of summering a child’s learning and development achievement through observations of consistent and independent behaviour mainly from child self-imitated activities.
The EYFS is the early years framework used in the UK and is mandatory for all registered early years providers in the UK who care for children outside their homes.
The EYFS also provides an educational framework which also covers care requirements, staff ratio, safeguarding and the welfare requirement giving legal status by the Children’s Act 2006.
The EYFS has seven areas of learning that practitioners must plan for, these are;

Communication, Language, Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Physical Development
Expressive Art and Design
My setting and settings in the UK use development matters booklet to assess development and promote positive relationships and provide an enabling environment.
The statutory framework should be referred to by all managers and practitioners ensure their safeguarding and practices comply with current law; the framework guides practitioners with different acts to ensure they meet their responsibilities; Children’s Act 2006, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, working together to safeguarding children, Local safeguarding children’s Board and the data protection Act 1998.
