Your reflection
How would you define academic readiness?
In my opinion, academic readiness as someone who understands, or is striving to understand the topic of study. Someone who is academically ready is one with goals outlined, a vision of these goals, and a plan of action to obtain them. While each student learns differently, there are certain characteristics one should possess. Some of the traits of an academically ready student include responsibility and competency, self-direction, and creativity as well as the desire to learn.
What concerns, if any, do you have with academic writing and reading?
I have very little concerns with the academic reading portion, though I do have a few with the writing. Due to my lack of persistence and desire to know how to do this, I didn’t all of the skills academic writing requires. I am confident though, that I will learn the correct writing process through these classes, the workshops I have signed up for, and the tools Phoenix provides to their students, such as the Center for Writing Excellence
What two university resources will you use to strengthen your writing and reading skills (refer to your Student Life Worksheet)?
The two tools that I will be utilizing most to strengthen my writing and reading skills are WritePoint and Tutorials and Guides. These tools, along with all of the others found in the Center for Writing Excellence via the Phoenix Library seem as though they will be useful, especially for creative writing and non-research papers, because I have the most technical ability in essays and research papers.
What is your personal learning style (refer to the Ch. 1 Aplia homework)?
Based on the book, I am watchful or visual learner. I learn best when I am observing someone. I always describe myself as a visual learner. During high school, whenever we took notes I always need to have at least one or two examples shown to me in order for me to understand and learn. After I got the hand of it and understood the problem I would excel. I feel as if being a visual learner is an advantage because I will get better understanding than say a kinesthetic learner who learn best doing.
What are two obstacles you might need to overcome (refer to your Life Factors and personality assessments)?
The two obstacles I might have to overcome first I will be not waiting to the last
