Analyze Leadership

The leader I selected for my paper is Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929 and died on April 4, 1968. Dr. King “was an American clergyman, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African American Civil Rights movement” (PBS, 2013). Dr. King made many changes, he spent his entire life fighting for equal civil rights for black American. He helped different people understand that no matter the skin color all humans were equal.
Dr. King used his experience to make a change in freedom equal rights. He had many personality traits and qualities. The personality traits Dr. King had were bravery, persistence, trustworthiness, and the ability to captivate an audience. These traits helped him be a great leader. It took a lot of courage for Dr. King to stand before millions and share his dream and proclaimed he would fight to the end to see it through.
Dr. King was extremely persistent. Even though he was put into the Birmingham Jail he did not allow that to stop him, he continued to fight without taking any breaks. He fought for what he believed in. All of Dr. Kings followers all trusted him with every bone in their body. They believed he would be the one to eliminate discrimination as well as segregation. The most significant trait Dr. King had was his ability to captivate the audience and hold their attention.
Dr. King was considered a great and effective leader. I believe he was an effective leader because he his ability to stand before tons of people and give his speech, refused to accept status quo, he acted according to his highest values, he always painted a vivid picture of the future, and he never settled. He never gave up on what he believed in and did not allow anything or anyone to stop him.
Dr. King faced many different obstacles fighting for what he believed in. In spite of all the obstacles he faced he continued to push forward and not allow them affect his beliefs or change his leadership style. He was put in jail and even then he never stopped. He was motivated, persistent, and continued to share his beliefs even behind bars.
