Cold Reading 3 In my opinion, this reading was a little bit more complex than the other two previous cold readings I read before. However, I did not use the dictionary. I did that in order to obligate myself to figure out words by using the context they are in. I have to admit that there were words I could not figure out because they were highly unfamiliar to me, and their context did not help me to do so. In this reading, whose author is called Mike Rose, non-blocker and blocker writers are contrasted, and the different methods they used; they tried to explain every method and compare each one with theories. The author started by giving some examples with blocker writers. He explained that they are those type of people whose ideas are short because they do no really have an outline to follow. Most of their texts do not catch the readers because they do not have a good beginning, and if they do not have an eye-catching beginning, then it is more than likely that readers will get bored of reading it, and they will not continue to do so. In addition, the author explained that the majority of the blocker writers do not follow rules or have a plan regarding what they are going to write about. Also, they sometimes try to contradict what they are try to explain, and whenever they do that, they lose focus and coherence because they are not sure what they are going to say. In contrast with blocker writers, non-blocker writers are those who always have extended ideas, said the author. They are the kind of individuals who always make sure everything is ready before writing. For instance, if they are given an assignment that involves writing, they first do further research about any idea of what they want to write. After that, they come up with a draft and ask their professor to take a look at it, expecting them to approve of it.
