The Lifeblood Stream
If there was never one main resource for the Egyptians, they would never have survived.
That main resource for the Egyptians was the Nile River and it had a huge impact on the
Egyptians which changed their lives. The Nile River provided a source of freshwater and it helped them a huge amount because it was extremely dry in Egypt. The Egyptians were surrounded by deserts which made them want to live near the Nile River. And it also gave the
Egyptians fertile land. The Nile River let them trade, irrigate, and supply them with resources.
Trade and Transportation was a huge impact on the Egyptians. The Nile River gave the
Egyptians fertile soil and let them grow crops which leads to trading. As cited on document four, the Egyptians traded with Nubia and Crete.Nubia traded gold, copper, amethyst, slaves, and cattle. Wine and oil came from Crete. Hatshepsut was a woman pharaoh in Egypt who traded with other people instead of starting a war with people. Egypt also imported wood from other countries. If the Nile River was never there, the Egyptians would never been able to trade goods.
Irrigation is a system that supplies dry land with water through ditches, pipes or streams and it helped the Egyptians greatly since it made the process easier for getting water. The
Egyptians used shadoofs, a bucket attached to a long pole used to transfer river water to storage basins, to get fresh water and it made the process a lot easier as stated in document 1. Deserts
needed water from irrigation flooding since the desert is hot and dry. The Egyptians knew when the flooding was going to happen since it was natural pattern. The Egyptians knew when it was going to flood because they understood the pattern of the flooding which was seasonal and they had fertile land and silt. Irrigation let them have fertile land from the flooding, which lead to
Egyptians have food and then they can trade goods as cited in document 4.
