One of the most influential and important people in history was King Henry the Eighth. As King f England, Henry was one of the most powerful men of his time and with that power he was able to change the course of history, not only for his kingdom, but the world. He is most notable for having been excommunicated from the Catholic Church by Pope Clement the Seventh, being the father of Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and being married six times. He aided Spain, the papacy and Venice against France. King Henry the Eighth was the second son of King Henry the First. He succeeded to the throne after his brother Prince Arthur died at the age of fifteen. Throughout his early years he was taught how to speak French, Italian, Spanish and Latin. He was a very educated man having rigorously studied math, theology and music, he also composed hymns and ballads. He became King in April 21, 1509, herring a peaceful kingdom, and married his brothers’ widow Catherine of Aragon. One notable event in Henrys life was his excommunication from the Catholic Church by Pope Clement the Seventh. He had tried to have his marriage annulled by the Pope when he saw that Catherine was unable to provide him with a male heir to the throne. Catherine had miscarriages and only gave him a daughter who would become Queen Mary. It is said that King Henry, after being excommunicated from the Catholic Church, traveled to Rome in order to beg the Pope for his forgiveness. When Henry did not receive forgiveness from the Pope he created his own church, The Church Of England. Creating The Church Of England is one of the most important event in the History of England. This church he formed gave him full authority of this new religion. The King was now like the “Pope” of his own church and he authorized the annulment of his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. The reason for having his first marriage made invalid was due to the law stating that a brother could not sleep with his brother’s widow. This argument was approved and having created his own church, he could now make laws that would allow him to re-marry however many times he wished. After having his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled he married Anne Boleyn. Anne gave him a daughter named Elizabeth, who would later become the most important Queen ever in England. After Anne failing to produce a male offspring, she was beheaded for having had affairs with other men and incest with her own brother George Boleyn. Jane Seymour was his third wife and she produced and offspring, King
