Missions presented in the Gospel of Mark
“15And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.’”
-Mark 16:15-18 (NASB)
Introduction:
Jesus gives us some insight on what being His follower is about in Mark 16:15-18. When it comes to the Great Commission and going forth in Christ’s name, most believers think of Matthew 28 yet in Mark 16 the established missions’ agenda is stated once again and this time elaborated in a different way than Matthew 28. The end of Matthew 28 states and focuses on making disciples of all people groups, baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, on the authority given to us along with responsibilities. In Mark 16, the focus is on preaching to “all creation,” and the signs surrounding a believer.
