Compare and Contrast
When the tough decision of moving out is taken there is an even tougher decision to make: small town or big city. There are numerous advantages and disadvantages and it is important to think of all these aspects before taking the decision.
Whenever somebody is looking for a new place to call home, this person will always be looking to increase his quality of life or at least maintain what he or she had before moving out. Some of the aspects people consider a lot are: schools and education for children, transportation, prices, community, pollution, security, and many others.
Schools and education is very different in a small town than a big city. A small town can be considered better when thinking about this aspect because classrooms are smaller, meaning they are not going to be overcrowded and teachers can create a stronger link with the students, making it easier to help them out and dedicate more time to individuals. Another important aspect to consider is that small towns have a bigger budget for education and schools than big cities. In large cities, schools have, in most of the cases, many students per classroom, making it more difficult for teachers to dedicate the necessary time to explain to every individual in the classroom. Big classes also increase the probability of bad conduct from the students. Because the budget in a big city is not as big, teachers are often found with low salaries, decreasing their will to do well in their job, resulting in poor education for the students.
Transportation in a small town is very different than transportation in a big city. In small towns there is hardly any public transportation, meaning people usually have to own a car, distances aren’t so long and there is hardly any traffic. On the other hand, big cities offer a great service of public transportation, ranging from buses, taxis, metros and others. Traffic can be very bad and even if the distance that is going to be traveled is not that long, the user needs to plan ahead because of traffic, accidents and some other factors that can make him late.
Pollution is another important aspect and it is closely related to transportation. In small towns everybody has to own a car, but this is not enough to pollute the same as a big city. There are cars, factories and much more people in big cities, meaning there is going to be more waste and this affects the health of those who live there. There is another type of pollution that can be very annoying in big cities, and it is noise pollution. Cars driving by, airplanes flying in the sky, honking, dogs barking, sirens, and many others, can make it really uncomfortable for those who can’t stand loudness.
In small towns, it is safe to say that life is much quieter and easier to relax. They are not as loud as big cities are and everything moves at a slower rhythm. Big cities aren’t just loud, they move at a really fast pace and never slows down, not even at night. There is plenty of things to do both at day and night, almost as if the life on the city had no rest.
Entertainment and finding activities different than work or school is different in these 2 lifestyles. A big city offers sports events, museums, theaters, amusement parks, big clubs, bars, etc. while a small town can
