J.S Essay on Shmot 19 and Breishit 12 G-d asks Moses to basically be the communicator between him and the people of Israel, meaning that he does everything that G-d asks of him without any question. He also tells Abraham to abandon everything he had in order to find a new land for the people. Moses and Abraham were the chosen people for a reason! In Shmot 19:10 G-d asks Moses to “sanctify them today and tomorrow”, meaning that Moses was basically telling them to relax for this day and the next, but on the third day, G-d will appear at Sinai. G-d also told Moses that “ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death”(Shmot 19:12) ,which means that only Moses himself can tell the people that if they try to get closer to G-d, then they will be put to death. Isn’t that a little ridiculous for G-d to ask Moses to do? He is physically telling Moses to tell his own people that they will be killed on the spot for just trying to be with G-d on the mountain. G-d is asking Moses this as if it was something small but no, it is a very big thing for Moses to tell his people. G-d even says that if animals touch the mountain then they will die. At this point in time the animals could know not to, or they could not know anything and accidentally touch the mountain, leading to instant death. Also, G-d asks Moses to tell the people “charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them parish” (Shmot 19:21). This seems to be very exaggerated by G-d because just because someone sees a little bit of G-d’s image, doesn’t mean that they should be put to death. But Moses never questions G-d and does what he is asked without a second thought. “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” (Breishit 12:1), were the words that G-d said to Abraham. He was basically telling Abraham to take his family and his most valuable things away from their land to discover a new land, a land that would make Abraham’s name great. Then, Abraham agreed, and left everything behind he had done for the past 75 years in the dust. He followed exactly what G-d asked of him. Abraham then took his family to Egypt, but since his wife was beautiful, Abraham and his family were
