The general summary I attained from this poem is someone that is overwhelmed and not able to understand or deal with the current situation they’re dealing with. Looking at the first stanza the poet is confused about love. On the first line he is confused and desperate because he is turning to God, God in his sense from looking at Christianity is basically a higher power someone looks up to help them in a situation of need. He’s asking what he feels and turning to this higher power who he thinks knows the answer. On the next line the poet is saying if it exists then what will it be a person or thing, to show this confused state of mind he or she is having and really expresses the feeling. Again the poet strengthens this showing of a confused state in lines 3 and 4 of stanza one by saying what if love is good and if it seems miserable, why does it feel wonderful for me? By using a repetition of question marks at the end of the first three lines he is expressing this feeling of question? Each stanza has seven lines which I link with the poet’s name or title “Troilus,” because this is a poem about them and their inside feelings, to show it only has to do with himself/herself not anyone else. To reassure my link, the title is, “Troilus’s Song,” not anyone else's song. On the first line of the second stanza he/she uses the word lust, which in context is one of the deadly sins of Christianity according the bible. The second line of this stanza he/she is complaining and asking why something so bad feels so good? Also looking at the next line he uses the word, “quikke,” which means strange and it is used because it’s describing his/her feeling. The strange feeling is how can something be so satisfying and yet bad at the same time. This stanza also has this repetition of question marks at the end expressing the overall feeling of confusion expressed in this poem. At the first and second stanza he uses the word ,”O,” which expresses the tone of the poem as if he/she is trying to make a point and that
he/she is showing great importance to this matter. This and the repetition of question marks makes me characterize the poet as someone of great thought and would presume him/her as
