My Defense for the Christian Faith “Is God real?” This is a question that many people, if not all, ask themselves. It seems as though the answer is pretty logical: Of course He is. However, some would argue that there is no god, that mankind was somehow evolved from lifeforms from millions and millions of years ago. But if those people were to look closely, it would become extremely apparent to them that there is a God and that He is the all-powerful creator of this universe. The first major step in accepting the Christian faith is believing that the Bible is the final authority. II Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (KJV). One cannot be rightfully called a Christian if they do not hold the Bible to be completely true. It is imperative for one to rely on the Bible, more specifically the King James Version, for guidance on all aspects of life. Time and time again, it is proven that a Christian who lives by the Bible is a successful person because God blesses those who seek His counsel through the Word of God. Anyone who wraps themselves in the Scriptures will see His glory shine in their life. The next step would to be to acknowledge that God is the creator of all things. In Genesis chapter one, it tells of how God “created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 KJV). Out of nothing, God created everything. For those who would argue, think about it like this: Look at the watch on your wrist. Did all of those parts just miraculously come together? Did some “big bang” just happen and then bam! You suddenly have a watch! No, someone had to design it. Someone had to assemble the parts and make sure that it functioned correctly, right? There is no way that it just came together from nowhere. Well, that is how the earth came about, how life began: with a divine Creator. In the poem “The Creation” by James Weldon Johnson, Johnson writes the account of God creating the earth. “Up From the bed of the river God scooped the clay; And by the bank of the river He kneeled Him down; And there the great God Almighty Who lit the sun and fixed it in the sky, Who flung the stars to the most far corner of the night, Who rounded the earth in the middle of His hand; This Great God, Like a mammy bending over her baby, Kneeled down in the dust Toiling over a lump of clay Till He shaped it in His own image; Then into it He blew the breath of life, And man became a living soul. Amen. Amen.” (The Creation, Johnson) The final step would be to realize that God send His “only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). What deems a Christian a Christian is their belief that Jesus is the only way for one to get to Heaven. Jesus Himself said in
