Property taxes in the state of Pennsylvania should be increased. Property taxes in the state should increase to help heighten the funds available for public schools. Although, a raise in tax may hurt some wallets, the need to properly fund the future generation is invaluable. Education is something in which price shouldn’t be an issue.
Many public schools are not only becoming less and less scarce but, many of the valuable programs are basically becoming extinct. Programs like tutoring sessions are harder to find because of the cost. Some are still free, but many of them you have to pay for. I believe increasing property taxes would allow more students to have access to tutoring sessions. This would increase the number of how many students graduate and go on to college.
Another good reason for this would be better equipment for public schools such as, advanced computers and printers. It’s hard to accomplish an assignment if the software is dated and there isn’t access to newer materials. Property taxes will eventually allow for a better future for many of the students attending public schools.
It also seems as though public schools get the “worse end of the stick” when it comes to teachers. I feel as though there would be more people wanting to become teachers if they pay rate would increase. Teachers are the ones who help guide students into making a better career choice.
