Using the PowerPoint Jeopardy Template

1. Go to our workshop Resources page from the USC website: http://www.uscupstate.edu/academics/education/aam/wkshps/index.htm

2. Scroll down the page to the “Multimedia Workshop section,” where you’ll see a link to the Jeopardy Template underneath the “PowerPoint” heading in that section.

3. Right-click on the link to the PowerPoint file and choose “Save Target As.”

4. A dialogue box will appear for you to use in saving the Jeopardy template somewhere in its own folder on your computer. If you are in a lab on a network, then save it to your personal folder in its own folder.

5. Go back to the Workshop Resources page to get the Jeopardy Sound File from the same “Multimedia Workshop” section underneath the “Sound” heading in that section.

6. Right-click on the link to the sound file and choose “Save Target As.”

7. A dialogue box will appear for you to use in saving the sound file in the same folder that you just saved the PowerPoint file in.

8. Now you are ready to fix the sound in the Jeopardy PowerPoint.
**Remember: Do not drag your slides around within PowerPoint because they are pre-programmed with hyperlinks between questions and answers.

9. Open My Computer and navigate to your folder that the Jeopardy is saved in. Open the Jeopardy PowerPoint.

10. You have to reinsert the sound file in order for the sound to work, so go to the first slide that looks like a TV screen and find the speaker icon in the lower left-hand corner.

11. Click on the speaker so that white handles appear around it and hit your delete key.

12. Now to reinsert it go up to the Menu bar and choose Insert> Movies and Sounds> Sound from file.

13. A dialogue box will appear for you to use in finding the sound file you want to insert. Use it to navigate to the Jeopardy sound file that you saved earlier. Select it and click “Insert.”

14. A new speaker icon should appear on the slide. Click on it to drag it around with your crosshair pointer once it is active and white handles appear around it.

15. Repeat steps 10-14 on the Double Jeopardy slide which is the yellow slide marked number 11.
**Remember: Anytime you move your PowerPoint, make sure that you move the entire folder with all of its contents, including the sound file and any Movie clip files that you might have inserted (after they were saved inside the PowerPoint folder).

16. Now you are ready to start working on your clues and your questions!
**Remember: Change the name of your Jeopardy PowerPoint after you begin to edit it by clicking on File> Save or Save As. This way you can still have the blank version on your computer to use for future Jeopardy games.

17. A Jeopardy Planning Form has been created to help you devise your clues and questions before you start editing your PowerPoint. If you want to use this form you can save it to your computer from our workshop resources page and even print it out to complete at home.

18. Go back to the Workshop Resources page to get the Jeopardy Planning Form from the same “Multimedia Workshop” section underneath the “Handouts” heading in that section.

19. Right-click on the link to the Planning Form file and choose “Save Target As.”

20. A dialogue box will appear for you to use in saving the Planning Form file in the same folder that you saved the PowerPoint file in.

21. To open up the Planning Form file, open My Computer and navigate to your folder that the Planning Form file is saved in. Open the Planning Form file. Print or edit as necessary.
**Remember: Think of your answers as clues in the left-hand column. This makes it easier to think of the questions in the right-hand column as answers.
**Remember: Change the name of your Planning form after you begin to edit it by clicking on File> Save or Save As. This way you can still have the blank version on your computer to use for future Jeopardy games.

22. Once you have gotten your Planning Form
