Jay-Z: The Power of Our Voice The following advertisement was released Oct 15, 2012. During the presidential election we had this year, between President Barack Obama and republican candidate Mitt Romney. The advertisement was promoted by President Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign team.
Basically, this particular advertisement demonstrated issues like success, opportunity, dream and hope. It also talks about the importance of people’s voice and expressing their freedom. In the ad, legendary rapper Jay-Z talks about how people had lost hope and had been silenced for many years before Barack Obama got elected as president. The advertisement promotes positive information of President Obama, on how he became an icon of change and hope for millions, how his life motivated and inspired ordinary American people to move forward, proving anything is possible in America despite of what you look like or where you come from, you can make it if you try. By working hard, learning from our mistakes and refusing to quit. Obama’s media strategists have done an excellent job with this ad. In my opinion, involving the legendary rapper Jay-z was a brilliant idea. He is the one person that can still connect to masses from all different sections from society. Jay-Z has not come from power or privilege also. He has been through thick and thin. He started out his career on the streets of Brooklyn, NYC, with only five dollars in his pocket. Now, he is the owner of total net worth of $460 million. Therefore, there isn’t any other perfect person than jay-z to convey the message of success, hope and American dream. The ad definitely produced a lot of respect, especially within the young voters, who are filled with ambition and enthusiasm toward their future, all because of successful demonstration of “hope” based on the most two inspirational men in America. One who became first African American President and other men who became successful rapper and entrepreneur from the streets of Brooklyn. And their success stories were nothing alike comparing to their opponent Mitt Romney. And based on the ad, youngsters of America could tell that Barack Obama’s lifestyle was much simpler and most importantly sounded much more authentic to them. That is why this particular ad has done its job and helped the President to earn tremendous amount of respect from young voters all across the country. Based on the ad, I would go and vote for Barack Obama right away. In the ad president Obama said, “To me the idea of America, is that no matter who you are, what you look like or where you come from, you can make it if you try. Jay-Z did, he ain’t come from power or privilege, he got ahead because he worked hard, learned from his mistakes and just plain refused to quit.” These sentences made my day. Having someone in office who understands the importance of people and their voice is truly important. His presidency made it mean something for the first time for a lot of people. He might not be the best president for many, but for me he is an inspiration and true icon of hope.

Mitt Romney 47 percent
During the 2012 presidential election between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, a secret video of Mitt Romney and his fundraisers has been leaked to the public. As we all know that during the election Mitt Romney constantly criticized President Obama’s effort and his economic plan for middle class calling it, “Big Mistake”. Apparently, that one September evening in Florida, something complete opposite came out of Mitt Romney’s mouth. He stated that 47 percent of the nation pay no income tax, are dependent on the federal government, see themselves as victims, and will support President Obama unconditionally. Romney went on to say: "And so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
