JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTS
There are hundreds of Japanese martial arts, karate being the most popular. All Japanese martial arts have their own individual elements and purposes, some are bases on beliefs, making each and every one of them unique.
For example, Jujitsu and Judo are catered to short people. The techniques are perfect for short people, because they’re harder to throw, because their centre of balance is closer to the ground than tall people.
Due to the popularity of martial arts, a lot of misguided teachers and schools have arisen over the last 40 years. These frauds are often referred to as “McDojo” or a “Black Belt Mill”.
JUJITSU
Jujitsu’s method of close combat for defeating an armed and armoured opponent in which one uses no weapon or only a short weapon.
JUDO
Judo was derived from jujitsu although the techniques are different.
KARATE
Karate means empty hand. Karate is fought with the empty hand (no weapons). It is a striking art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open hand techniques such as knife-hands, spear hands and palm-heel hands. The place where Karate training is taken place is called a dojo, and the traditional white uniform worn is called a “gi”, simply meaning “uniform” in Japanese.
Karate is a fast paced martial art that involves electric movements of the hands and legs. It’s close combats can be lethal, so there is equipment used to protect your body.
Karate has been effective for some MMA practioners.
