IT technical support officers are usually responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and that users get maximum benefits from the program, individual tasks for them vary depending on how big the company is but some individual tasks may be installing and configuring hardware operation systems and application’s, monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks, talking staff or clients through a series this can be done ether face to face or over the phone they help set up new computer systems and accessories for them and they also help through issues people have with their computers such as something’s won’t work like your program won’t load or your computer won’t turn on, that’s just a few tasks they do in a day.
Some education qualifications you don’t need but might want for a better chance at this job are:

* Computer networking and hardware
* Computer Science
* Information technology
* Internet engineer &
Software engineering the list goes on and on.
For a job in IT, it’s good to be on top of everything such as be on top of being on top of new technology, you’d also like to know what brand name products and the newest products out there are, you got to have good communication skills in order to be able to talk people through the process of setting up there computer’s and or if there having problems with their products.
Some future possibility’s for this career are, that you could end up working for the FBI and or you can get a job with some hot shot company to design products for them because they know how to make fancy products and such. The median salary range for an IT computer tech support officer is $46,891 and some benefits are the work environment is very comfy and not very dangerous because you are behind a computer screen and all you really do is help people set up their products and them through any problems they have with their products and add anti-virus programs onto big business’s such as Dell will use a IT to add an anti-virus program onto their data base, so that no one hacks there main frame. You pretty much have to know all computer languages, because you’ll be dealing with a lot of people with different languages, and not to mention that you have to also now all lot about computer programs for in case a computer gets a virus you’d have to know what to do so you’d have to be able to read computer codes.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
– Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
– Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
– Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above or • Mature student status or • College or university transfer status
All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

The length of the program at Humber’s college is just an easy 4 semesters.
The courses required to take for your course are Computer programing, systems analysis, web development, database management, information technology (IT), project management and other aspects of information systems.
