He believed that he could unite the country by winning the 1995 rugby world cup through motivation and joins forces with Francois Pienaar, captain of South Africa’s rugby team. Mandela has overcome many obstacles to bring together a peaceful environment, where equality stands as a huge factor. Obviously, it is not a one-man effort; however, one can start it. In this case, Nelson Mandela, he tries to balance the nation on a scale economically and racially. He attempts to change the societies mind to get into a better communication. In reference to a scene from the film, is the rebel between the office workers themselves. They worry about Mandela sending some of them to the streets, so they start to pack up and leave. When Mandela recognizes the situation, he lectures the workers on changing their attitude and working together as a country. Each word he spoke during the speech had a bold and deep meaning, to prove that everyone is equal. For instance, when he says “Let me tell you why. On Robben Island, in Polls moor Prison, all of my jailers were Afrikaners. For 27 years, I studied them. I learned their language, read their books, their poetry. I had to know my enemy before I could prevail against him. And we did prevail, did we not? All of us here … we prevailed”. He goes through a flashback of his prison days and him studying his enemies for revenge. However, at the end they did win. What he is trying to portray is that they have been living on revenge now and it has come to end, so why fight hereafter. This scene comes at the fighting stages of Nelson Mandela, towards the middle of the film. Whereas, a total contrary of scenes near the end, when Mandela’s security guards, of both races, were playing rugby together. It clearly symbolizes each of them working as a team. Giving an equal chance to others can settle or overcome any conflict in life.
