The Beer Simulation program is a model for a business that orders ingredients (hops) to brew beer and then it sells the beer to the public. The orders take 1 week to receive, and then one week to brew. At that time, the beer is available to sell. The orders are for full cases of beer. The business sells full cases only.
Running the Beer Simulation
To run the program, locate the "beer.exe" program on your computer, double-click on it.
The first time you run the program, answer Y when asked for Constant Demand.
Your task is to attempt to balance the supply and demand so that you have no inventory and keep the customers happy. If customers are happy and the business does not have enough beer in the inventory, orders are taken and these show up as negative inventory.
Too much inventory will spoil the beer. Not enough will upset customers and you will lose their business.
Note that constant demand is 10 cases of beer per week. Demand not constant will result in 0-15 cases of beer sold.
Assignment
Execute the program with constant demand and see how many weeks it takes you to balance the inventory.
Write a 2-3 page paper on your impression on the program. Questions to answer are: your impression on supply and demand tactics to balance the inventory applicability to real world situations
