Bhatia (2004) describes a multi-dimensional framework that includes “textual”, “ethnographic”, “socio- cognitive” and “socio-critical” perspectives when analyzing genres (p.163, 167). Building on Bhatia’s (1993) levels of linguistic analysis of moves that reflects a specific communicative purpose, which contributes to the overall purpose of the genre, Bhatia (2004) includes intertextuality and interdiscursivity in the linguistic analysis of genres in regard to the textual perspective. Bhatia (2004) suggests that one may need to analyse intertextuality and interdiscursivity when investigating genre. Basically, the intertextuality refers to the phenomenon that other texts are overtly drawn upon within a text, which is typically expressed through explicit surface textual features such as quotations and citations. Interdiscursivity, however, refers to how a text is constituted by a combination of other language conventions (genres, discourses and styles). Therefore, incorporating the analysis of intertextuality and interdiscursivity reflects the dynamics and complexities of genres (Bhatia, 2004).…show more content… Storrer (1999) classifies three types of hyperlinks. “Intratextual” hyperlinks connect links in the same hypertext, usually on one and the same web page; “intertextual” hyperlinks can be found on the whole website and connect single pages within the same website; “extratextual” hyperlinks lead users to other websites (p.39). This study moves on the line of Askehave and Nielsen’s (2005) study investigating the functions of links that incorporate
