Unit 3 Project
Interpersonal Communication
Tonja Shepherd
1. Describe a time when you tried to bring about a change in your self-concept and were not successful in doing so.
2. Summarize the guidelines for improving self-concept in our textbook and explain how each might apply to a change in self-concept.
3. If you applied these guidelines, how might you be more effective if you attempted to create the same change in your self-concept today?
4. What is the most significant thing you have learned from this assignment?
1. I was on the right path to being more patient with my family members, instead of snapping when I’ve said “get in here and put the top on the toothpaste” five hundred times; I would talk myself into saying it nicer “please put the top on the toothpaste”. Although the toothpaste was not my only problem. I have stayed committed to my path in self growth learning new ways of coping with my issues on being more patient. Realizing that others may be in the middle of something to them that may hold some importance.
2.
* Firm commitment- ready for a change, fixing a situation realize the effects of what it will take to accomplish. * Gain and Use Knowledge to Support Personal Growth- understanding yourself the way others see you, the way you see you. * Let the goals be realistic and fair- Never set a goal without thinking it through in several directions and what the end result will be, how you will get there under different situations, make sure you are comfortable
