Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Mexico City.
Thesis Statement: Mexico City is filled with many historic attractions, to explore with its rich and glorious Aztec heritage, an intriguing colonial past and exhilarating new world.
Introduction: The Distrito Federal, or Mexico City as it is called in English, has no comparison when it comes to other cities in Mexico. It is truly the capital in every sense of the word. The capital of México is very old, the world’s largest city, the financial, political and cultural center of México. The city is filled with exciting things to see and do and it is an incredible place to visit. There are many historic attractions to visit. Every year, millions of tourists from all over the world visit Mexico City.
Transition: Mexico City has many attractions to explore with its rich and glorious Aztec heritage, an intriguing colonial past and exhilarating new world.
Main Points:
I. Mexico City is more than just a city in Mexico.

A. Mexico City is the capital and the largest metropolitan and most important area in the country.
B. Mexico City is located west of the historic center, the Plaza de la Republica is home to the newly refurbished Revolution Monument and National Museum.
C. Chapultepec Park, the largest in Mexico City, is divided into three sections and home to several of capital’s top tourist attractions, including Chapultepec Castle, The Modern Art Museum and the National Museum of Anthropology.
D. Mexico City is one of the most important political, cultural, educational and financial centers in North America.

Transition: We are specifically going to look at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
II. The Metropolitan Cathedral is the oldest and largest in Latin America and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico.

A. The present cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of Mary was built over sporadic intervals from 1573 to 1813.
B. The exterior of the cathedral is a medley of architectural styles.
C. Spanish architect Claudio de Arciniega who was appointed to design the cathedral, took inspiration from the various cathedrals in cities such as Valladolid and Málaga.
D. The Metropolitan Cathedral is a symphony in stone, composed over 4 centuries into manifold facades, displaying textbook Neoclassical, Renaissance, and wedding-cake ornate Mexican Baroque styles.
Transition: We are specifically going to look at the Chapultepec Castle.
